Monday was a great day for Kyle Turner, as Turner struck out nine batters to carry the Licking County Settlers (16-10) to a 12-1 victory over the Hamilton Joes (8-18) at Don Edwards Field.
Eight runs in the first three innings helped the Licking County Settlers blow out the Hamilton Joes. An error and during the first inning and , a double by Lucas Calderon, a single by Marcos Calderon, an RBI single by Nick Schulz, and a double by Jake Fields in the second inning supplied the early offense for the Licking County Settlers.
Calderon had a busy day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits.
James Jewell was solid at the plate for the Hamilton Joes. Jewell went 1-4, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the seventh inning.
Ryan Riga couldn't get it done on the rubber for the Hamilton Joes, taking a loss. He allowed seven runs in 2 1/3 innings, walked one and struck out none.
Matt Parisi, Calderon, Fields and Calderon helped lead the Licking County Settlers. They combined for nine hits and six RBIs.
