An outstanding effort by David Vandercook hoisted the Lake Erie Monarchs (11-9) to a 9-3 win in seven innings over the Stark County Terriers (11-12) on Saturday at Walsh University.
Vandercook rocked the Stark County Terriers with two home runs. Vandercook went 2-3 in the game with three RBIs and three runs scored. Vandercook homered in the fourth and sixth innings.
The Lake Erie Monarchs blew out the Stark County Terriers thanks to 10 hits, including zero extra base hits. A three-run error helped the Lake Erie Monarchs score three runs in the seventh. The Lake Erie Monarchs had one hit in the inning.
Cristian Torres put together a nice outing. Torres held the Stark County Terriers hitless over one inning, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three.
Max Murphy racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Stark County Terriers. He singled in the third inning and homered in the sixth inning.
Mike Dolloff improved to 2-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Lake Erie Monarchs. He allowed three runs over five innings. Dolloff struck out three, walked one and gave up six hits.
Cameron Palmer couldn't get it done on the mound for the Stark County Terriers, taking a loss. He lasted just five innings, walked four, struck out five, and allowed five runs.
