The Stark County Terriers (11-11) didn't have a chance on Friday, as the So. Ohio Copperheads (11-7) won in blowout fashion, 15-5 at Walsh University.
The So. Ohio Copperheads scored four runs in the seventh on a single by Chris Piwinski, an RBI single by Joe Sturino, an RBI single by Sturino, and a two-run home run by Matt Glomb.
Glomb had two extra-base hits for the So. Ohio Copperheads.
A bright spot for the Stark County Terriers in the defeat was Sam Shafer, who allowed only two runs while striking out five.
Tommy Monnot racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Stark County Terriers. He singled in the eighth inning and tripled in the ninth inning.
Jake Harper improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the So. Ohio Copperheads. He allowed three runs over 5 2/3 innings. He struck out five, walked four and surrendered six hits.
Sean Kennedy ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his third loss of the year. He allowed six runs in four innings, walked one and struck out four.
