The Grand Lake Mariners (5-12) jumped out to an early lead, but were unable to hold on and lost 5-1 to the Licking County Settlers (11-7) on Wednesday.

Alex Johnson paced the Licking County Settlers at the plate. Johnson went 2-4 and scored one run. He singled in the sixth inning and doubled in the eighth inning.

David Koll baffled the Grand Lake Mariners, striking out seven batters. Koll allowed one earned run on four hits and one walk over seven innings.

A bright spot for the Grand Lake Mariners in the defeat was Preston Zachrich, who allowed only one run while striking out five.

Jared Hill got the win, running his season record to 2-0. He struck out one, walked none and surrendered no hits.

Tyler Jordan (1-2) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just one inning, walked none, struck out one, and allowed two runs.
