The Lexington Hustlers survive the Cincinnati Steam 6-3 thanks to Thomas' late-game heroics

Johnny Thomas brought home the go-ahead run to give the Lexington Hustlers (5-6) the lead in the eighth inning, as the Lexington Hustlers hung on to beat the Cincinnati Steam (6-4) 6-3 on Wednesday.

With the score tied at two in the eighth inning, Thomas came to the plate and hit a grand slam, bringing home Chase Greenwell, Sam Kidd and Taylor Rozier.

Thomas racked up four RBIs on two hits for the Lexington Hustlers. He singled in the fifth inning and homered in the eighth inning.

Jackson Deyer baffled the Cincinnati Steam, striking out five batters. Deyer allowed no earned runs on five hits and two walks over five innings.

A bright spot for the Cincinnati Steam in the defeat was Brian Korte, who allowed only one run while striking out five.

Shaun Meyer got the win, running his season record to 2-1. He allowed one run over one inning. Meyer struck out none, walked one and gave up no hits.

C.J. Gant (0-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just one inning, walked three, struck out one, and allowed three runs.
