Junior Arrojo collected three hits as the Florence Freedom (22-16) took home a 5-4 victory over the Gateway Grizzlies (18-20) at Home of the Florence Freedom on Thursday.

The Gateway Grizzlies couldn't get anything going as long as Brandon Mathes was on the mound. Mathes gave up just one hit, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out three during his three innings of work.

John Shelby blasted two home runs for the Gateway Grizzlies. Shelby went 2-4 in the game with two RBIs and two runs scored. Shelby homered in the fifth and seventh innings.

Andres Caceres improved to 4-1 on the year by picking up the win for the Florence Freedom. He allowed four runs over six innings. Caceres struck out three, walked three and gave up six hits.

JaVaun West (0-2) took the loss for the Gateway Grizzlies. He lasted just four innings, walked one, struck out five, and allowed five runs.
