The Evansville Otters get 6 strikeouts from Zielinski in 5-0 win over the Gateway Grizzlies

A superb effort by Matt Zielinski lifted the Evansville Otters (5-5) to a 5-0 win over the Gateway Grizzlies (4-6) on Tuesday at GCS Ballpark - Sauget, IL.

The Evansville Otters' Zielinski kept the Gateway Grizzlies off the scoreboard for all nine innings he was on the hill. He pitched a shutout, allowing no opposing players to cross the plate on four hits while ringing up six.

DeAngelo Mack had a busy day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits. He doubled in the third and fifth innings.

Zach Robertson (0-2) took the loss for the Gateway Grizzlies. He lasted just five innings, walked three, struck out four, and allowed five runs.

Matt Sheely, Mack and Andrew Kuhn helped lead the Evansville Otters. They combined for five hits and three RBIs.

The lead stayed with the Evansville Otters after the second, when they scored two runs on a two-run home run by Kuhn.

The Evansville Otters built upon their lead with three runs in the fifth. The inning looked promising, as Frank Martinez singled, scoring Sheely to kick things off. That was followed up by Mack's double, bringing home Martinez.
