Shawn Gilblair kept the Normal CornBelters (2-5) off the board during his six innings of work and the Southern Illinois Miners (5-3) beat the Normal CornBelters, 9-0.

Gilblair struck out five and allowed no walks and two hits.

The Southern Illinois Miners ran up the score, scoring runs at will until the final out. The Southern Illinois Miners scored three runs in the final three innings to cap the blowout win. The Southern Illinois Miners scored three runs in the eighth on an RBI single by Darian Sandford, an RBI single by Jake Kaase, and a sacrifice fly by Chad Maddox.

Maddox racked up five RBIs on two hits for the Southern Illinois Miners.

Elio Briones (0-1) took the loss for the Normal CornBelters. He allowed six runs in four innings, walked three and struck out one.

The game's last lead went to the Southern Illinois Miners thanks to a first inning rally that saw two runs cross the plate on a two-run home run by Maddox.
