Alex Bonczyk brought home the go-ahead run to give the Walla Walla Sweets (20-27) the lead in the seventh inning, as the Walla Walla Sweets hung on to beat the Klamath Falls Gems (23-24) 3-1 on Sunday.
After Jarrod Turner reached on an error, Bonczyk came to the plate with one out in the seventh and singled, plating Turner.Joe Arlt picked up the win for the Walla Walla Sweets. Arlt pitched eight innings and allowed one earned run, six hits and three walks while striking out five.
Joshua Wong had a hot bat for the Klamath Falls Gems. Wong went 2-4, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the first inning and homered in the sixth inning.
Jeremy Burright ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his fourth loss of the year. He lasted just 1 2/3 innings, walked one, struck out none, and allowed two runs.
