The Bethesda Big Train (3-0) built an early lead against the Baltimore Redbirds (2-1), scoring five runs in the first inning, en route to a 6-3 win on Friday at Shirley Povich Field.

The Bethesda Big Train scored in the first on a two-run triple by Vinny Esposito, an error, an RBI single by Garrett Kueber, and an RBI single by Kueber.

Esposito racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Bethesda Big Train.

Sean Barry had an impressive outing against the Baltimore Redbirds' lineup. Barry gave up just two hits, allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out four during his three innings of work.

Mark Curtis pitched five innings and allowed no earned runs, four hits and no walks while striking out four.

Logan Gilbert improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Bethesda Big Train. He allowed three runs over six innings. He struck out four, walked three and surrendered four hits.

Tyler Blohm (0-1) took the loss for the Baltimore Redbirds. He lasted just two-thirds of an inning, walked one, struck out one, and allowed five runs.
