The Florence Freedom (18-30) took home a 7-1 victory over the Southern Illinois Miners (32-16) on Thursday, fueled by three runs in the seventh inning.

The Florence Freedom scored in the seventh on a two-run single by Austin Newell, a sacrifice fly by Andrew Godbold, and a sacrifice fly by Godbold.

The Southern Illinois Miners had the lead early, but couldn't hold off the Florence Freedom. The Southern Illinois Miners were up until the sixth inning, but the Florence Freedom had other plans for the final outcome, taking the lead back on an RBI double by Garrett Vail.

Travis Weaver had a busy day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits. He doubled in the fifth and seventh innings.

Cody Gray picked up the win for the Florence Freedom. Gray allowed one earned run, six hits and two walks while striking out four over seven innings of work.

Rick Teasley (4-3) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just six innings, walked two, struck out one, and allowed five runs.
