The Traverse City Beach Bums (17-28) built an early lead against the Southern Illinois Miners (30-14), scoring five runs in the first inning, en route to a 8-4 win on Saturday at Wuerfel Park.

The Traverse City Beach Bums scored in the first on an RBI single by Steven Patterson, an RBI single by Will Kengor, and a three-run home run by Elijah Trail.

Trail racked up three RBIs on three hits for the Traverse City Beach Bums.

Alex De Leon did his best to jumpstart the offense for the Southern Illinois Miners, reaching base three times. He scored two runs and had one RBI. He singled in the first and seventh innings.

James Ball got the win, running his season record to 1-3. He struck out three, walked one and surrendered two hits.

Rick Teasley couldn't get it done on the hill for the Southern Illinois Miners, taking a loss. He allowed eight runs in six innings, walked three and struck out four.
