Phillip Bates went 1-3, sparking the Joliet Slammers (23-16) to a 3-2 victory over the Lake Erie Crushers (17-20) on Sunday at Silver Cross Field.
He tripled in the second inning.Kaleb Ort baffled the Lake Erie Crushers, striking out 13 batters. Ort allowed two earned runs, four hits and no walks over seven innings.
Scott Carcaise was solid at the plate for the Lake Erie Crushers. Carcaise went 1-3, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the seventh inning.
Tyler Levine recorded his second win of the year for the Joliet Slammers. Levine struck out one, walked two and gave up no hits.
Keegan Ghidotti (1-1) took the loss for the Lake Erie Crushers. He lasted just two-thirds of an inning, walked none, struck out none, and allowed one run.
