Both the Bethesda Big Train (20-10) and the Vienna River Dogs (12-17) put runners aboard on Sunday, but it was the Bethesda Big Train that were able to take advantage, pulling out an 8-5 win at Shirley Povich Field.
Clayton Daniel got on base three times in the game for the Bethesda Big Train. He scored two runs and had one RBI. He singled in the third and sixth innings.
Stephen Schoch brought the heat against the Vienna River Dogs during his outing. The Vienna River Dogs managed just one hit off of Schoch, who allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out one during his 2 2/3 innings of work.
Will Malbon paced the Vienna River Dogs at the plate. Malbon went 3-4 and scored two runs. He singled in the third, seventh, and ninth innings.
Matthew Herzog improved to 2-1 on the year by picking up the win for the Bethesda Big Train. He allowed one run over 3 1/3 innings. Herzog struck out four, walked one and gave up three hits.
Nick Beaulac ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his third loss of the year. He lasted just two innings, walked four, struck out two, and allowed five runs.
