The Baltimore Redbirds get key pinch-hit in 8-5 victory over the Alexandria Aces

DJ Miller was cold coming off the bench, but Miller warmed up quickly as Miller stroked a key pinch-hit single in the seven to lead the Baltimore Redbirds (20-7) to an 8-5 win over the Alexandria Aces (16-13) on Saturday at Calvert Hall HS.

With the Baltimore Redbirds trailing by three, Miller came to the plate and singled, plating Manny Pazos.

Pazos had two extra-base hits for the Baltimore Redbirds. He doubled in the second and fourth innings and singled in the seventh inning.

Cole Aker brought the heat against the Alexandria Aces during his outing. The Alexandria Aces managed just three hits off of the the Baltimore Redbirds' pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out two during his four innings of work.

Drew Huff paced the Alexandria Aces at the plate. Huff went 3-5 and scored two runs. He singled in the first, second, and eighth innings.

Matthew Ponsiglione ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just one inning, walked none, struck out none, and allowed four runs.

The Baltimore Redbirds were sparked by Kyle Datres and Pazos, who teamed up for seven hits and three RBIs.
