The Vienna River Dogs top the Herndon Braves behind Sergent's 4 hits, 9-4

An excellent effort by Jordan Sergent carried the Vienna River Dogs (6-9) to a 9-4 win over the Herndon Braves (7-7) on Wednesday at Herndon High School.

Sergent blasted two home runs for the Vienna River Dogs. Sergent went 4-5 in the game with three RBIs and four runs scored. Sergent homered in the fourth and eighth innings.

The Vienna River Dogs scored three runs in the first inning to build an early lead. The Vienna River Dogs scored in the first on , , and an RBI single by Andrew Williamson.

The Herndon Braves couldn't get anything going as long as Trevor Farrell was pitching. Farrell held the Herndon Braves hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two.

Conner Hall reached base three times. He also drove in one runner. He doubled in the fourth inning and singled in the sixth inning.

Mason Keen got the win, running his season record to 1-0. He allowed four runs over five innings. He struck out five, walked none and surrendered six hits.

Jack Fant (0-1) took the loss for the Herndon Braves. He lasted just two innings, walked three, struck out three, and allowed five runs.
