Both the Gaithersburg Giants (6-6) and the Baltimore Redbirds (8-3) put runners aboard on Sunday, but it was the Gaithersburg Giants that were able to take advantage, pulling out a 2-1 win at Criswell Automotive Field.

Jake Slaughter paced the Gaithersburg Giants at the plate. Slaughter went 2-4, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the sixth inning and singled in the eighth inning.

Alex Ward pitched lights out for the Gaithersburg Giants. Ward held the Baltimore Redbirds hitless over 1 2/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three.

Despite the loss, the Baltimore Redbirds' Dallas Woolfolk dominated the Gaithersburg Giants' batters, giving up one run and striking out six.

Eli Nabholz was charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just two innings, walked one, struck out two, and allowed one run.
