Reichenbach's effort not enough in the Hannibal Cavemen's 12-5 loss

Not even a strong hitting and pitching performance from Ed Reichenbach could carry the Hannibal Cavemen (8-18) past the Quincy Gems at Clemens Field on Wednesday as the Hannibal Cavemen suffered a 12-5 defeat.

Reichenbach racked up two RBIs on one hit for the Hannibal Cavemen. He homered in the fourth inning.

Reichenbach pitched lights out for the Hannibal Cavemen. The Quincy Gems (15-12) managed just one hit off of Reichenbach, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out one during his one inning of work.

The Quincy Gems blew out the Hannibal Cavemen thanks to 12 hits, including zero extra base hits. The Quincy Gems scored three runs in the sixth on the Quincy Gems scored in the sixth on a wild pitch and a two-run single by Trey Mathis.

Joey Polak had two extra-base hits for the Quincy Gems. He doubled in the first inning and homered in the fourth inning.

Scott Gorsuch improved to 3-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Quincy Gems. He allowed two runs over three innings. Gorsuch struck out one, walked two and gave up four hits.

Dalton Overstreet (0-3) took the loss for the Hannibal Cavemen. He allowed six runs in four innings, walked seven and struck out two.

The Quincy Gems pounded the Hannibal Cavemen pitching, as six hitters combined for 11 hits, seven RBIs and nine runs scored.
