RJ Perucki went 1-3 and hit a home run as the Normal CornBelters (3-11) took home a 5-3 victory over the River City Rascals (7-6) at CarShield Field on Saturday.

Francisco Carrillo brought the heat against the River City Rascals during his outing. The River City Rascals managed just one hit off of Carrillo, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three during his 2 2/3 innings of work.

Jared Wilson was effective even in defeat, mowing down seven the Normal CornBelters batters and allowing zero runs.

It was a good day at the plate for the River City Rascals' Jason Merjano. Merjano went 2-5, drove in one and scored two runs. He homered in the first inning and singled in the third inning.

Nick Kennedy (1-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just 2 1/3 innings, walked one, struck out one, and allowed two runs.
