A walk-off single from Collins Cuthrell brought home the winning run for the Florence Freedom (4-7) in an 8-7 victory over the Southern Illinois Miners (7-4) at UC Health Stadium on Thursday.

Cuthrell racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Florence Freedom. He singled in the eighth and ninth innings.

Andre Mercurio got on base three times in the game for the Florence Freedom. He singled in the sixth and eighth innings.

Ethan Gibbons improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Florence Freedom. He allowed one run over one inning. Gibbons struck out none, walked two and gave up no hits.

Zach Cooper couldn't get it done on the rubber for the Southern Illinois Miners, taking a loss. He lasted just two-thirds of an inning, walked two, struck out one, and allowed four runs.
