The Edmonton Prospects outdone by Hawkins and the Medicine Hat Mavericks, 9-4

The Medicine Hat Mavericks (20-16) beat the Edmonton Prospects (17-21) 9-4 on Saturday at Athletic Park behind Brody Hawkins, who went 2-4 and hit a home run.

He singled in the fourth inning and homered in the seventh inning.

J.P. Stevenson pitched lights out for the Medicine Hat Mavericks. The Edmonton Prospects managed just one hit off of Stevenson, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out five during his three innings of work.

Bryn Redhead boosted his batting average thanks to a perfect 2-2 day at the plate to pace the Edmonton Prospects. He doubled in the fifth inning and singled in the third and seventh innings.

Michael Bucci got the win, running his season record to 1-2. Bucci struck out one, walked none and gave up one hit.

Matt Weaver couldn't get it done on the hill for the Edmonton Prospects, taking a loss. He lasted just three innings, walked two, struck out one, and allowed four runs.
