The Piedmont Pride (17-4) and the Concord Weavers (6-16) both threatened with rallies, but it was the Piedmont Pride that eventually took advantage of them in a 4-2 win at Winthrop University.
It was a good day at the plate for the Piedmont Pride's Andy Santana. Santana went 2-3, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the second inning and tripled in the fourth inning.
Michael Gilroy put together a nice outing. The Concord Weavers managed just two hits off of Gilroy, who allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out four during his three innings of work.
Julian Smith ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his third loss of the year. He lasted just 2 2/3 innings, walked four, struck out one, and allowed two runs.
