2 the Manitoba pitchers team up for no-hitter in 10-0 victory over the Newfoundland

Two pitchers combined to throw a no-hitter for the Manitoba (1-0) in a 10-0 victory in six innings over the Newfoundland (0-1) on Thursday at Julien Morin.

Jayden Bergen and Reid Howard teamed up to stifle the Newfoundland, striking out none while walking none.

The Manitoba blew out the Newfoundland thanks to nine hits, including zero extra base hits. A two-run single by Bennet Dalke and a two-run single by Riley Poole helped the Manitoba score four runs in the fifth. The Manitoba had five hits in the inning.

Poole racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Manitoba.

Bergen put together a nice outing. Bergen held the Newfoundland hitless over 4 2/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out five.

Howard improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Manitoba. Howard struck out two, walked none and gave up no hits.

Colin Hunt couldn't get it done on the rubber for the Newfoundland, taking a loss. He lasted just 3 2/3 innings, walked four, struck out none, and allowed three runs.
