Colin Waldner went 1-1, helping the Manitoba (1-1) to a 6-3 victory over the Saskatchewan (0-1) on Thursday at SrM Ironmen Field.
He singled in the third inning and tripled in the fourth innings.Matt Mutcheson struck out 10 hitters en route to the the Manitoba win. Mutcheson allowed two earned runs on four hits and three walks over seven innings.
JP Willner had a hot bat for the Saskatchewan. Willner went 1-3, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the second inning.
Steven Latos ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He allowed six runs in five innings, walked six and struck out three.
