Thursday was a great day for Dustin Northcott, as Northcott threw a shutout to carry the Alberta (1-0) to a 4-0 victory over the Newfoundland (0-2) at SrM Waldo Henderson Field in seven innings.
Northcott held the Newfoundland scoreless during his seven innings of work. He pitched a shutout, allowing no opposing players to cross the plate on three hits while ringing up eight.
Kerry Boon was hot from the plate for the Alberta. Boon went 2-3 and scored two runs. He singled in the fourth inning and doubled in the fifth inning.
Daniel Connors (0-1) took the loss for the Newfoundland. He lasted just five innings, walked six, struck out three, and allowed four runs.
