Both the Okotoks Dawgs (28-18) and the Medicine Hat Mavericks (24-22) put runners aboard on Wednesday, but it was the Okotoks Dawgs that were able to take advantage, pulling out a 6-5 win at Athletic Park.
Brendan Hendriks racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Okotoks Dawgs. He homered in the first inning and singled in the fourth inning.
The Medicine Hat Mavericks had no answer for Trevor Swaney, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. The Medicine Hat Mavericks managed just three hits off of Swaney, who allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out three during his four innings of work.
Devin Johnson was solid at the plate for the Medicine Hat Mavericks. Johnson went 3-5 and drove in one. He singled in the third, fifth, and ninth innings.
Victor Soto ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his third loss of the year. He lasted just 3 1/3 innings, walked two, struck out two, and allowed five runs.
