John Whaley went 2-4 as the Yorkton Cardinals (19-24) took home a 4-1 victory over the Medicine Hat Mavericks (22-21) at Jubilee Park on Friday.

Eric Nerl picked up the win for the Yorkton Cardinals. Nerl allowed one earned run, four hits and one walk while striking out five over eight innings of work.

Bryan Arthur reached base three times. He scored one run and had one RBI. He homered in the fourth inning and singled in the ninth inning.

Landon Russo brought the heat against the Yorkton Cardinals during his outing. The Yorkton Cardinals managed just one hit off of Russo, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three during his 2 2/3 innings of work.

Michael Bucci (1-3) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just five innings, walked two, struck out eight, and allowed four runs.
