A nine-run explosion in the third inning hoisted the Melville Millionaires (14-21) to a 15-4 win over the Medicine Hat Mavericks (19-16) at Athletic Park on Thursday.

The Melville Millionaires scored in the third on an RBI single by Chase Goldwater, an RBI single by Ryan Grotjohn, an RBI single by Vinny Martin, an RBI single by Ruben Rodriguez, a two-run single by Braeden Allemann, an RBI single by Zac Wilson, and a two-run single by Anthony Cusati.

The Medicine Hat Mavericks couldn't slow down Wilson, who paced the Melville Millionaires with five hits.

Ben Schweinfurth's nine strikeouts were enough to push the Melville Millionaires past the Medicine Hat Mavericks. Schweinfurth allowed two earned runs, eight hits and one walk over seven innings.

Gabe Lares paced the Medicine Hat Mavericks at the plate. Lares went 2-5, drove in one and scored one run. He tripled in the first inning and singled in the second innings.

Talon Kunkel (4-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He allowed eight runs in 2 2/3 innings, walked one and struck out two.
