Wednesday was a great day for Eric Nerl, as Nerl tossed a shutout to carry the Yorkton Cardinals (14-17) to a 6-0 victory over the Edmonton Prospects (16-13) at Jubilee Park in seven innings.
The Edmonton Prospects' lineup had no answer for Nerl. The Edmonton Prospects managed just one hit off of Nerl, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out five during his seven innings of work.
Five runs in the first three innings helped the Yorkton Cardinals blow out the Edmonton Prospects. A three-run home run by Dondrei Hubbard in the first inning and an RBI single by Kyle McComb and a sacrifice fly by Zach Mihic during the second inning supplied the early offense for the Yorkton Cardinals.
Hubbard racked up three RBIs on one hit for the Yorkton Cardinals.
Bradley J. Smith ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just three innings, walked two, struck out four, and allowed five runs.
