An ace performance by Eric Nerl hoisted the Yorkton Cardinals (10-16) to a 4-1 win over the Melville Millionaires on Thursday at Pirie Field.
Nerl picked up the win for the Yorkton Cardinals. Nerl allowed one earned run, seven hits and no walks while striking out seven over nine innings of work.
Dondrei Hubbard paced the Yorkton Cardinals at the plate. Hubbard went 3-5. He singled in the second, third, and fifth innings.
The Melville Millionaires (8-18) were led by Shoma Sasaki's hitting. Sasaki went 2-4 and scored one run. He singled in the first inning and tripled in the third inning.
Curtis Johnson was charged with his third loss of the year. He lasted just five innings, walked none, struck out two, and allowed two runs.
