The Regina Red Sox (11-10) beat the Edmonton Prospects (10-9) 5-2 on Friday at Currie Field behind Bryson Shelton, who went 1-3.

He tripled in the sixth inning.

Mike Thill pitched lights out for the Regina Red Sox. Thill held the Edmonton Prospects hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out two.

Cory Scammell put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for the Edmonton Prospects. He doubled in the second inning and tripled in the sixth inning.

Parks Smithey got the win, running his season record to 1-1. He allowed two runs over five innings. He struck out four, walked five and surrendered one hit.

Bradley J. Smith (1-1) took the loss for the Edmonton Prospects. He lasted just five innings, walked one, struck out six, and allowed four runs.
