The Yorkton Cardinals outlast the Weyburn Beavers in high-scoring affair, 14-13

Fans were treated to a high-scoring affair Tuesday as the Yorkton Cardinals (8-11) outscored the Weyburn Beavers (14-4) 14-13.

The two teams combined for 37 hits in the game.

Nick Gotta had two extra-base hits for the Yorkton Cardinals. He singled in the fourth and eighth innings and doubled in the sixth and ninth innings.

The Weyburn Beavers had no answer for Garrett Osterode, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. The Weyburn Beavers managed just one hit off of Osterode, who allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out two during his 2 2/3 innings of work.

The Weyburn Beavers were led by a flawless day at the dish by Reed Lavallee, who went 5-5 against the Yorkton Cardinals' pitching. He doubled in the sixth inning and singled in the first, third, fourth, and seventh innings.

Wade Mason couldn't get it done on the bump for the Weyburn Beavers, taking a loss. He lasted just 1 1/3 innings, walked none, struck out one, and allowed one run.

Carter Hanford, Nate Green, Luke Wurzelbacher and Gotta helped lead the Yorkton Cardinals. They combined for 13 hits and seven RBIs.
