A superb effort by Kenny Knudsen spurred the Okotoks Dawgs (1-4) to an 8-1 win over the Medicine Hat Mavericks (1-5) on Friday at Seaman Stadium.
Knudsen brought the heat against the Medicine Hat Mavericks during his outing. The Medicine Hat Mavericks managed just one hit off of the the Okotoks Dawgs' pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked seven and struck out nine during his seven innings of work.
Five runs in the opening three innings allowed the Okotoks Dawgs to easily put away the Medicine Hat Mavericks. An RBI single by Bruce Yari, an RBI single by Thomas Rodrigues, an RBI single by Joey Underwood, and during the first inning and a sacrifice fly by Brian Sisler in the second inning supplied the early offense for the Okotoks Dawgs.
Ellis Kelly reached base four times. He singled in the first, second, and fourth innings.
Dylan Bell (0-1) took the loss for the Medicine Hat Mavericks. He lasted just one inning, walked one, struck out none, and allowed four runs.
