The Edmonton Prospects (3-0) and the Okotoks Dawgs (0-3) both threatened with rallies, but it was the Edmonton Prospects that eventually took advantage of them in an 8-7 win at Telus Field.
Tanner Kirwer was hot from the plate for the Edmonton Prospects. Kirwer went 2-5, drove in one and scored two runs. He singled in the seventh and eighth innings.
A bright spot for the Okotoks Dawgs in the defeat was Chris Horvath, who allowed only three runs while striking out five.
Kyle Garvin improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Edmonton Prospects. He allowed one run over 3 1/3 innings. Garvin struck out three, walked none and gave up three hits.
Dalton Gulick (0-1) took the loss for the Okotoks Dawgs. He lasted just two-thirds of an inning, walked none, struck out none, and allowed two runs.
