The Edmonton Prospects (2-0) beat the Medicine Hat Mavericks (0-2) 5-2 on Sunday at Telus Field behind Tanner Kirwer, who went 2-3.

He singled in the first and third innings.

Dylan Theroux put together a nice outing. The Medicine Hat Mavericks managed just two hits off of Theroux, who allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out three during his three innings of work.

Blake Rowlett reached base four times in the game for the Medicine Hat Mavericks. He also drove in one runner. He singled in the fifth inning and tripled in the seventh inning.

Logan McDonald ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just four innings, walked one, struck out one, and allowed five runs.
