Both the Worcester Bravehearts (1-0) and the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs (0-1) put runners aboard on Thursday, but it was the Worcester Bravehearts that were able to take advantage, pulling out a 3-2 win at Doyle Field.

The Wachusett Dirt Dawgs couldn't get anything going so long as Luke Brennan was on the hill. Brennan held the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out four.

The Worcester Bravehearts had no answer for PJ Browne, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Browne held the Worcester Bravehearts hitless over four innings, allowed no earned runs, walked four and struck out four.

Matthew Cronin was charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just two-thirds of an inning, walked none, struck out none, and allowed one run.
