Beaver helps the Statesville Owls down the Carolina Vipers 4-0

The Statesville Owls (17-20) beat the Carolina Vipers (19-20) 4-0 in seven innings on Friday at Statesville High School behind Jake Beaver, who had three RBIs.

He singled in the first inning and homered in the fourth inning.

The Carolina Vipers had no answer for Heath King, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. The Carolina Vipers managed just one hit off of the the Statesville Owls' pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three during his two innings of work.

Despite the loss, the Carolina Vipers' Philip Perry dominated the Statesville Owls' batters, giving up three runs and striking out five.

Nick Boyles recorded his third win of the year for the Statesville Owls. He struck out two, walked two and surrendered no hits.

Perry (1-3) took the loss for the Carolina Vipers.
