A walk-off single from Trace Witt brought home the winning run for the Lake Norman Copperheads (10-16) in a 10-9 victory over the Carolina Vipers at Hopewell HS on Wednesday.

Each team blasted the other's pitching, and there were 19 total runs and 22 hits during the game. Relief pitchers got their fill of innings during the game, with the opposing managers using eight pitchers in total.

Alex Malsch reached base four times in the game for the Lake Norman Copperheads. He singled in the second and fourth innings.

Corbin Balzer improved to 2-1 on the year by picking up the win for the Lake Norman Copperheads. Balzer struck out two, walked none and gave up one hit.

Brandon Leonard (0-1) took the loss for the Carolina Vipers (12-13). He lasted just two-thirds of an inning, walked two, struck out two, and allowed two runs.
