Four first-inning runs helped the Lake Norman Copperheads (7-15) to a 4-2 win over the Concord Weavers (6-16) at Hopewell HS on Friday.
The Lake Norman Copperheads scored in the first on a single by Brandon Gragilla, an RBI single by Nick Daddio, an RBI single by Richard Carter, and a two-run single by Alex Malsch.
The Lake Norman Copperheads were led by Malsch's hitting. Malsch went 2-2 and drove in one.
Jake Pearn got the win, running his season record to 1-1. He allowed two runs over 3 2/3 innings. Pearn struck out two, walked five and gave up four hits.
Tyler Scearce ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just five innings, walked none, struck out three, and allowed four runs.
