The Piedmont Pride (13-3) and the Lake Norman Copperheads (5-11) each put runners in scoring position on Friday, but the Piedmont Pride capitalized on more RBI opportunities, pulling out a 1-0 win at Hopewell HS.

The fact that the Piedmont Pride grouped all of their runs into the third inning helped them take advantage of their hits.

Daniel Sweeney had an impressive outing against the Lake Norman Copperheads' lineup. Sweeney gave up just three hits, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out two during his five innings of work.

Nate Traugh (1-2) took the loss for the Lake Norman Copperheads. He lasted just five innings, walked three, struck out nine, and allowed one run.
