The Carolina Vipers fifth-inning burst enough to top the Concord Weavers, 11-1

The Carolina Vipers (9-7) took down the Concord Weavers (4-12) 11-1 on Friday at Cox Mill HS after slamming the Concord Weavers with seven runs in the fifth inning.

The Carolina Vipers scored in the fifth on a double by Nick Triplett, an RBI single by Zach Bumgarner, a wild pitch, , , a two-run single by Brian Novak, and a single by Ashton Cox.

Novak put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for the Carolina Vipers.

Chris Stewart picked up the win for the Carolina Vipers. Stewart pitched six innings and allowed one earned run, five hits and one walk while striking out four.

The Concord Weavers were led by a flawless day at the dish by James Moody, who went 3-3 against the Carolina Vipers' pitching. He singled in the first, fourth, and sixth innings.

Josh Bottenfield couldn't get it done on the mound for the Concord Weavers, taking a loss. He lasted just 4 2/3 innings, walked two, struck out six, and allowed five runs.

The Carolina Vipers were sparked by Eddie Hull and Novak, who teamed up for five hits and five RBIs.
