The Concord Weavers (4-10) didn't put up much of a fight on Wednesday, as the Statesville Owls (5-9) cruised to a blowout 11-2 win at Statesville Aggies Home Field.
The Statesville Owls scored three runs in the fourth on the Statesville Owls scored in the fourth on an RBI single by Tripp Hamrick and a two-run single by Jake Helms.
Hamrick was solid at the plate for the Statesville Owls. Hamrick went 2-4, drove in one and scored three runs.
Chase Poplin had an impressive outing against the Concord Weavers' lineup. Poplin held the Concord Weavers hitless over 1 2/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out one.
Nick Beinlich paced the Concord Weavers at the plate. Beinlich went 3-4 and drove in one. He singled in the first, third, and ninth innings.
Sam Laws got the win, running his season record to 1-1. He allowed two runs over 5 2/3 innings. He struck out five, walked four and surrendered six hits.
Julian Smith was charged with his second loss of the year. He allowed eight runs in 3 1/3 innings, walked three and struck out three.
