The Lake Norman Copperheads (3-9) and the Carolina Vipers (7-5) each put runners in scoring position on Saturday, but the Lake Norman Copperheads capitalized on more RBI opportunities, pulling out a 5-4 win at Hopewell HS.

Tim Mansfield reached base three times in the game for the Lake Norman Copperheads. He singled in the first inning and doubled in the sixth inning.

Brett Branton went a perfect 2-2 at the plate for the Carolina Vipers. He singled in the second inning and doubled in the fourth inning.

Nate Traugh improved to 1-1 on the year by picking up the win for the Lake Norman Copperheads. He allowed four runs over five innings. He struck out five, walked none and surrendered seven hits.

Danny Dunning couldn't get it done on the hill for the Carolina Vipers, taking a loss. He lasted just two innings, walked two, struck out one, and allowed one run.
