Brian Novak went 1-2, sparking the Carolina Vipers (7-4) to a 5-2 victory in seven innings over the Lake Norman Copperheads (2-9) on Saturday at Hopewell HS.

Nolan Pierce got a hit in each of his two at bats. He singled in the fifth and sixth innings.

Kyle Cliff improved to 1-1 on the year by picking up the win for the Carolina Vipers. He allowed two runs over six innings. He struck out two, walked two and surrendered six hits.

John Creel was charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just 3 2/3 innings, walked four, struck out one, and allowed four runs.
