A walk-off single from Daniel Poma brought home the winning run for the Washington Wild Things (41-54) in a 4-3 victory over the Windy City ThunderBolts at CONSOL Energy Park on Saturday.
Poma had two extra-base hits for the Washington Wild Things. He doubled in the third and fifth innings and singled in the ninth inning.
Matt Purnell pitched lights out for the Washington Wild Things. Purnell held the Windy City ThunderBolts (41-54) hitless over 2 1/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out four.
A bright spot for the Windy City ThunderBolts in the defeat was Dyllon Nuernberg, who allowed only three runs while striking out seven.
Danny Jimenez (3-10) took the loss for the Windy City ThunderBolts. He lasted just two innings, walked none, struck out three, and allowed one run.
The Washington Wild Things were sparked by Austin Wobrock and Poma, who teamed up for four hits and two RBIs.
