The Washington Wild Things take out the Evansville Otters with help from Herald, 7-2

Cody Herald had two extra base hits, helping the Washington Wild Things (39-50) to a 7-2 victory over the Evansville Otters (47-42) on Saturday at CONSOL Energy Park.

He doubled in the second and third innings.

The Evansville Otters couldn't get anything going as long as Steve Messner was pitching. Messner held the Evansville Otters hitless over 1 2/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out three.

John Schultz was solid at the plate for the Evansville Otters. Schultz went 2-4 and scored two runs. He doubled in the sixth inning and singled in the eighth inning.

Matt Fraudin got the win, running his season record to 3-2. He allowed two runs over seven innings. Fraudin struck out four, walked one and gave up eight hits.

Trevor Walch (8-7) took the loss for the Evansville Otters. He allowed seven runs in six innings, walked three and struck out six.

The Washington Wild Things were sparked by Herald and Maxx Garrett, who teamed up for four hits and five RBIs.
