Brick Paskiewicz was cold coming off the bench, but Paskiewicz warmed up quickly as Paskiewicz stroked a key pinch-hit single in the six to lead the Matsu Miners (30-8) to a 3-2 win over the Chugiak Chinooks (15-23) on Friday at Hermon Brothers Field.

With the Matsu Miners trailing by one, Paskiewicz came to the plate and singled.

Nyles Nygaard had a busy day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits. He doubled in the fourth and sixth innings.

Kyle Simonds picked up the win for the Matsu Miners. Simonds pitched seven innings and allowed one earned run, five hits and three walks while striking out three.

Conner Menez was charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just eight innings, walked two, struck out four, and allowed three runs.
