The Matsu Miners (21-6) and the Chugiak Chinooks (14-15) each put runners in scoring position on Saturday, but the Matsu Miners capitalized on more RBI opportunities, pulling out a 5-3 win at Hermon Brothers Field.
Eli Morgan struck out 10 hitters en route to the the Matsu Miners win. Morgan allowed two earned runs on seven hits and one walk over 7 2/3 innings.
Cameron Baranek was solid at the plate for the Chugiak Chinooks. Baranek went 3-4, drove in one and scored two runs. He singled in the first and third innings and doubled in the sixth inning.
Braxton Wilks (1-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just six innings, walked two, struck out two, and allowed three runs.
