An excellent effort by Calvin LeBrun lifted the Matsu Miners (3-0) to a 4-2 win over the Chugiak Chinooks (1-3) on Friday at Hermon Brothers Field.

LeBrun kept the Chugiak Chinooks off the board during his seven innings of work. LeBrun allowed four hits, no walks and struck out seven.

The Matsu Miners were led by a flawless day at the dish by Tanner Nishioka, who went 3-3 against the Chugiak Chinooks' pitching. He doubled in the fourth inning and singled in the second and fifth innings.

Michael Fairchild couldn't get it done on the rubber for the Chugiak Chinooks, taking a loss. He lasted just 4 2/3 innings, walked none, struck out five, and allowed two runs.
