The Peninsula Oilers (14-18) jumped out to an early lead, but were unable to hold on and lost 2-1 to the Matsu Miners (26-8) on Thursday.

An RBI single by Alex Caruso gave the Matsu Miners the lead in the ninth inning.

The Matsu Miners were led by Caruso's hitting. Caruso went 4-5 and drove in one. He singled in the first, third, fifth, and ninth innings.

Calvin LeBrun pitched 7 2/3 innings and allowed one earned run, four hits and one walk while striking out five.

Brick Paskiewicz got the win, running his season record to 2-0. He struck out one, walked none and surrendered one hit.

Sean Michel (0-3) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just one inning, walked two, struck out none, and allowed one run.
